Rachael Sage is a vibrant and innovative New York-based Americana folk-pop singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and activist who emerged from NYC's East Village music scene, cutting her artistic teeth at seminal downtown clubs like The Bitter End, The Bottom Line, and Sin-é alongside early idols including Jeff Buckley and Jane Siberry. It was here that Sage swiftly developed a unique style fusing Americana, classical, folk and pop elements with socially conscious themes. Paste Magazine dubbed her music "wildly expressive", and Stereo Embers described her as "the kind of performer you can't take your eyes off". Performing 100+ dates a year all over North America, the UK, and Europe – often accompanied by members of her band The Sequins, featuring Kelly Halloran (Tom Morello) on fiddle and Trina Hamlin (Susan Werner) on harmonica – Rachael has earned a loyal following for her dynamic piano playing, delicate guitar work, soulful vocals, and improvisational audience interaction. Sage always brings a healthy dose of humor, uplift and encouragement to her one-of-a-kind, heavily improvised performances. Irrepressibly expressive and unabashedly feminist – her first tours were with trailblazing punk-folk icon Ani DiFranco and Lilith Fair – she has shared stages with a diverse list of artists including Rufus Wainwright, Dar Williams, Beth Hart, Marshall Crenshaw, Shawn Colvin, and Judy Collins – with whom she also recorded a critically-acclaimed duet of Neil Young's "Helpless." Throughout the years, Sage has enjoyed an eclectic career in the US, UK and beyond. Her many years of helming MPress Records have fostered collaborations with diverse peers including MPress label-mates Grace Pettis, Melissa Ferrick and Grammy® Nominee Seth Glier. With a new album focused on inclusivity, acceptance and non-violence, Sage's uplifting and often hilarious live shows have never felt more vital. Equal parts consummate musicianship, poetic lyricism and infectious high energy, Sage and her longtime band The Sequins bridge the earthy, retro sensibilities of 70’s-era folk-rock with the ability to connect meaningfully with audiences of all ilks – always bringing the positive vibes and musical reminder that we’re all on this planet to lift each other up. In addition to being a six-time Independent Music Award-winning musician and producer, Sage is also a John Lennon Contest Grand Prize winner who has performed at the Edinburgh Fringe, SXSW, and toured globally from Japan to Berlin. Sage is also a visual artist and a former ballet dancer who performed with the New York City Ballet. A self-described "cancer thriver" and longtime advocate for women's health, homeless youth, and the LGBTQ+ community, Sage has raised funds via recordings and live performances for various charitable beneficiaries, including the Foundation for Women's Cancer, WhyHunger, NEDA, Girls Inc., and The American Refugee Committee. Rachael Sage & The Sequins' Under My Canopy comes out later this year on MPress/Virgin, but will be exclusively available in advance at her live shows beginning this Summer. www.rachaelsage.com ==== RACHAEL SAGE: SHORT BIO - 200 Words RACHAEL SAGE is a Billboard-charting singer-songwriter, poet and visual artist who has released 20+ self-produced albums and EP's.
